Minutes of the LIICL Executive Board Meeting

March 31, 2001

Huntington Library

The meeting was called to order at 12:00 PM. A quorum was present: AIL: Steve Romero, Alumni D: Ed Rusch, Clear-Cut Computing: Paul Ragonnet, Veeco: Seymour Bilkis, Photon: Tony Sommese, Northrop Grumman: George Berg. Subsequent attendees: Alumni C: John Kingsley, LSF: Dave Leone Absent: Ademco: Tom Ogen

1) Motion: "To count the Cecchini-Insogna game as a double-forfeit. To make Cecchini eligible for the playoffs based upon original desire to play on the regularly scheduled Wednesday for round 11." Passed 5 for, 0 against, 1 abstain

2) Determination of the Playoff seedings.

Round 1: AIL (W) vs. CCC (B)

Quarter-finals: Pho (W) vs. Ade (B)

Alu C (W) vs. Alu D (B)

LSF (W) vs. Vee (B)

NG vs. winner of AIL-CCC match

3) Motion: "Approve four playing dates at the East Northport Library: April 6, April 27, May 4 and May 18." Passed 8 for - 0 against - 0 abstain

4) Motion: "Official playoff time control will be Game/60 with starting time of 6:50 PM. If all eight players involved in a match wish, by unanimous agreement they may start earlier and increase the time control so as to finish 10 minutes before curfew." Passed 8 for - 0 against - 0 abstain

5) Motion: "There will be no Sudden Death to break playoff matches that end tied at 2-2. Ties will be broken in the following order. 1) Regular season head-to-head, 2) Regular season position round, if applicable, head-to-head, 3) Regular season standings, 4) Coin toss." Passed 6 for - 1 against - 1 abstain

6) Motion: "Eliminate the fifth round of the Individual tournament reducing it to a four-round Swiss. Registration for each round of the Individual end at 6:45 PM." Passed 8 for, 0 against, 0 abstain

7) Bob Rizzo will contact Paul Montenero to determine if the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library will allow groups to stay past the 9:00 PM general public quitting time, until 10:00 PM. If so, some of the rounds may be played at that site with longer controls.

8) Directions to the East Northport Library will be posted on the LIICL site along with the final Individual ratings, the playoff schedule, the Rules of the East Northport Library and the final Regular season results.
